Commission – Private Residence, South Kensington, London
A cast silicon bronze coffee table created as the second work in the Homage to Bernini series, blending art and function as a piece of functional sculpture. Commissioned as the centrepiece of a living space, the table was designed to be viewed both at eye level and from the mezzanine above, with each corner accommodating a glass — a gesture of balance and symmetry.
The form draws inspiration from the carved drapery in Bernini’s sculpture, isolating details of flowing fabric and scaling them up for human use. Smooth, undulating surfaces flow into deeper, textured areas, inviting touch and interaction. The classic bronze patina enhances its sense of age and permanence, while polished highlights suggest a surface gently worn through time — a quiet homage to movement captured in solid form.
